We have a current problem recieving e-mail from Comcast, however it doesn't
always happen. The times we generally have a problem recieving e-mail from
a Comcast is M-F 7AM to 5PM. Sometimes the mail eventually gets through,
sometimes it gets rejected.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Our environment is ISA Server 2004, with Exchange 2003 Standard edition and
SP2 installed. We have installed all the recent updates.

I usually get an error, if the mail doens't get through. It reads as "452
4.1.1 ... temporary failure," but can also read as something completely
different.

So you are sending from your Comcast home account to your Exchange Server?
At some point it times out and you get an NDR back? Can you post the NDR?

I don't know about elsewhere but starting in February 2008 it has been
a problem in the Philadelphia area.

The error indicates you have a problem *sending* mail, not receiving
mail as you stated.

It is an intermittant DNS problem with Comcast's email servers
(smtp.comcast.net). It works, it doesn't work, later on it works but
only for specific domains. Other domains are no problem. The problem
can be duplicated by using webmail so there's nothing wrong with your
computer.

Comcast is befuddled on how to fix this. I've had to wait a day to
send email to certain domains and then it works.

This might be the problem. I'm currently working with Comcast to resolve
the issue. So far I've heard from someone in the customer assurance
department, and he has stated that it is an issue with "rate limiting"
and/or a "pairing issue."

Hopefully I'll know more, and when I do I'll post it, but thank you for the
information about their DNS, that makes sense. When e-mail is sent from a
comcast account our Exchange server does not recieve it right away,
sometimes we do, but other times we do not.
