I have recently moved exchange 2000 server to new hardware
and everything seemed to go fine.

I moved the mailboxes across to the new server, setup
replication of the public folders, left both servers
running for 10 days so that allusers were ponted to the
new server and mail was coming in and out fine.

It was not until today when I tried to create a new user I
have had problems.

When I created the user in Active Directory Users &
Computers it creates the user fine and says that his
mailbox has been created in the Information Store, but
when I go back an hour later his mailbox has not been
created nor has his email addresses within ADUC.

I have created his email addresses manually (e.g. SMTP,
X400,MS, CCMAIL) but still his mailbox does not appear
within the private info store.

Can someone please point me in the right direction as
there is no error messages in event viewer or when I
create the user

Thanks

Neil

Hi Niel,

Sounds like your Recipient Update Service might be missing.

Within Exchange System Manager, Expand "Recipients > Recipient Update
Services"

If there is anything listed in the right-hand pane, chek to see that it has
the correct exchange server listed and not your old server name. If it is
incorrect, you can simply change it.

If nothing appears in the right pane, you can right click on "Recipient
Update Services" then click "New > Recipient Update Service" - fill in the
fields appropriately (The Domain controller should be in the same AD Site as
your Exchange server for performance reasons)

Hope this helps

We will be moving our exchange 2000 server to a new piece
of hardware soon. If you have any helpful references or
sites that we can use would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
