I am using exchange 2000 with service pack 3 on windows 2000 server.
I have defined mail box size limits on the mail boxes. it is 20 MB on each
mailbox.
Now if a user send a mail having attachment of 1 MB to 6000 users.and the
mail box of 2000 users is full. The non delivery report is being generated and
undeliverd mail is being deliverd to sender's mailbox having the attachment
of 1 MB. In this way the mail box of sender is consuming space of 2000 MB
whereas I have defined the mailbox limit of 20 MB.
If i have defined the limit of 20 MB then why the undeliverd mails are being
delivered to the sender mail box.I think it should go in the bad mail folder
but it is not going

can anyone help me in this issue
thanks in advance

Wow - that's not very much. Your users must not be very happy. Why so small?

Your Exchange server wouldn't allow a message to that many recipients by
default, if I remember E2k correctly....

....which wouldn't surprise me, given the 20MB limit!

Are you saying that you've actually *seen* 2000 NDRs being successfully
delivered to the sender's mailbox, each bearing the 1MB attachment?

I haven't worked with E2K for a while so bear that in mind. On the Mail
database limits have you prohibited the receiving of email when the limits
are reached as shown below?

Prohibit send and receive at: Select this check box to send a warning
message that states that the user has exceeded mailbox limits. If the user
receives this message, the user cannot receive any messages.

No, I wasn't joking, and the way you wrote this, it sounded like a
hypothetical scenario (especially given that unless you'd deliberately
opened it up for some reason, your users cannot send mail to 6000 users in a
single message). There's no need to be rude to people who are volunteering
their own free time to try to help others.
