I am having trouble using OWA with an iPhone. Is this possible? I have

Please advise,

Lee,

I was not able to diagnose the iPhone today but it appears that there is a
permissions issue. This network uses OWA considerably frpm normal PC's. I
read that an iPhone would not connect to OWA because it did not use Internet
Explorer for a Web browser. Is this true?

Thanks,

Rusty, MCSE

If the iPhone browser supports Basic Authentication, then it should be able
to connect. If you only have Integrated Auth enabled on your /Exchange
Virtual Directory, then it will not work, because non-MS browsers do not
understand Windows Integrated Authentication. It should also work if you
have Forms-based Authentication enabled, provided that cookies are enabled
on the iPhone browser.

Lee,

By "Exchange Virtual Directory" are you refering to the IIS security
settings for Exchange?

Thanks

Yes, but these settings for the Exchange VDir need to be configured in
Exchange System Manager (instead of the more usual IIS Manager), because
Exchange periodically overwrites the IIS settings with its own.

Lee, Sorry it took so long to respond. You were absolutely correct. There
were no error messages. The iPhone simply wodn't respond once the
authentication information was input. As it turns out. By default an
exchange installation runs "Windows Authentication" and "Basic Clear Text"
for access. I turned off "Windows Authrntication" and it worked perfectly.

Thanks so much,

Rusty Hundt, MCSE
