Since yesterday there's no incoming mail from external mailadressess. What
did I do.

We had problems with internet yesterday, so I shutted down the router,
started up again, got a new IP from the ISP and internet worked again.

But now, in exchange, we can only send intern mails to each other. There's
no incoming mail from outside the firm.
What could be the problem ? (I'm quite new in exchange, so please explain in
detail Smile

Configuration :
Windows 2000 server with Exchange2000 running on it.

Hi Bart,

What IP changed? If it was the external IP of the Exchange Server this would
cause the problem. Your MX Record points to the IP of Exchange and if it
changed it does not know where to send the mail to.

Hope this helps,

If you have had a new internet (external) IP address then
you will have to inform your ISP to change your MX record
(which is an entry on a DNS server that will point all
mail for you domain to a specific IP address). Then you
will need to change your router config to to forward all
connections on port 25 to your mail server IP (internal),
this is call NAT.
What is happening now is that all mail is being forwared
to your old IP which is no longer being used so your
intermail mail being sent to you cannot find your mail
server!
Hope this helps?
