Hi,

i would like to upgrade my existing win2k3 domain and exchange 2k FE/BE to
2003.
it will be new hardware for exchange 2003 FE / BE... i understand to upgrade
to exchange 2003, the FE server have to be upgraded 1st... But I would want
to know how do i upgrade my exchange 2000 to 2003.

Is the below correct sequence?
1) in-place upgrade the current exch2k FE to exch 2003.
2) Introduce and join the new exchange 2003 FE to the same organzation.
3) Introduce and join the new exchange 2003 BE to the same organzation.
4) Uninstall the 'old exchange FE'
5) move mailboxes
6) uninstall the exch 2000 BE

or, for the step 1

Can i just introduce the 1st exchange 2003 to the same org, then configure
it as another FE servers?

thanks!!!

Hi,

Your steps looks OK (the first server to be upgraded must be the FE).

In addition to moving the mailboxes there are some other steps before
uninstalling the 2000 be server - see

Hi,

You can't install a new exchange 2003 server into an organization with an
existing exchange 2000 server so you will need to upgrade this server first.
