hi all,

This is a weird problem that I just ran into and can't find anything helpful
through Google or otherwise. Having answered a few questions here myself, I
know there are some other sharp people out here... Here's the situation:

2 E2K servers in the same Admin Group and Routing Group. Both servers are
running SP4 for Exchange. They are running on Win2K w/ SP4 and all current
patches. They have been working fine for about a year. This is a consulting
gig for me and I just provide them with occasional help, but they built the
second server with the intent of migrating all of exchange over to the new
server and then removing the original server. To say the least, they have
stalled the migration. But, to the problem. When in the ESM, you can see
both servers and update configuration and the like. But, if you are on
server1 and looking at server2 virtual servers (Admin
Group/Servers/Server2/Protocols/SMTP/Default SMTP Virtual Server), there is
a question mark on top of the Envelope icon. You can still go to properties
and all that stuff, but if you click Current Sessions, it give you the
following error message:

"The virtual server instance is not running. Please start the virtual server
and try again"

But, if you go to server2 and check the same location, it looks fine. This
happens in both directions. It seems that one server is not able to see the
other servers virtual server status, but you can still update the
configuration on each. Also, you can browse the Queues from either server. I
am trying to figure out why this is happening and how to fix it. I did a
Google Search on the exact wording of the error message and only found 2
hits. One was an open question basically asking the same thing with no
solution. The other was unrelated. Trying a less detailed search pulled up a
lot more stuff, but after going through the first few pages, not anything
relevant.

please let me know any solution if exists

Thanks
sugunakar
