I have followed the kB syntax perfectly and it doesn't seem to work. My
Information Store files are in the default locations. I tried the following
to run a defrag and it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?/?????

c:\program files\exchsrvr\bin>eseutil /d "c:\program
files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb"

Also, I understand that the when the information store backs itself up, it
applies the latest log file and then deletes the logs correct? My log files
never get deleted. I had to manually delete 40 gig of log files yesterday.
How do I configure the store to delete the log files after successfully
backing up?

Thanks for your help.

Kevin

Hi,

What error message do you get when running the mentioned command?
The store is dismounted right?

Do not delete transacion log files manually. You do run the risk that the
exchange service will stop and can't be started again without a lot of
problems.

You need to run a full online backup of the information store by an exchange
aware backup program (such as ntbackup) to purge the logs.

Hi,

The logfiles are probably already committed, but you must remove them is a
supported way.

To run ntbackup you click start, run - type ntbackup and click OK.

No, The exchange server must be running and all stores mounted in order for
you to get a good online backup of the information store.
