Hi Guys,

i am looking for an answer to a weird problem we have pertaining to our
webmail - we have 8 centres linked to our head office by VPN, but for some
reason when the VPN goes down the centre loses webmail and outlook, outlook
is fair enough because - we can't understand why we lose webmail as we can
access it from anywhere outside our domain.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

kind regards

Aloha [ ElPablo 2000 ],

What URL are you using for the OWA in the centres? What IP address does
that resolve to at the centres? My first guess would be that your internal
DNS is redirecting the OWA URL to an internal IP address which becomes unavailable
when your VPN goes down.

I would check your dns. Also you can check your firewall and see what
is going out if it is. I'm thinking like the last poster. Most
likely, whoever does your DNS had it so any request at
https://yourcompany.com/exchange is being redirected to
https://mailserver.exchange.

You could try it by ip address also.
