Hello:

I have noticed in the last few months my transaction logs for one of my
information stores are growing at an alarming rate. I know Exchange creates
a 5MB transaction log file for anything it does to the database. I have
configured my logs to go onto a different drive separate from the
information store. The drive is 30GB and a few times it has come close to
filling up before my full backup kicks in and flushes the logs.

The quantity of the logs are just more than what I would expect. Does
anyone have any ideas on troubleshooting this?

What antivirus software are you running on this server (file-level AV) - and
what have you set to exclude from any/all scanning? Needs to be the M drive,
and the database/log/queue folders...

See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996191.aspx for some
possible help.

This also could happen if you are not having a virus scan on the gateway
level, thus any mass mailing worms or too much spam reaching your DB and
even being caught then and deleted, can generate too many logs than u
expect.... have a look to your anti-virus log and see if something like that
happening.
