Why does Exchange 2007 have a download size of 5578MB, where as Exchange 2007
WITH sp1 only has a download size of 855MB ?

That probably has to do with the additional Unified Messaging language
packs - the SP1 download has English and language pack for the SP1 locale
you download. Additional language packs are 177 - 4919 MB, available here:
