You can't sync the GAL but you can do lookup's against the GAL then save
that contact to your device.

I was bummed to hear that.

What I ended up doing was opened Address Book in OL2k7 and highlighted All
Users, right clicked and selected Add to Contacts, then did a sync on my
"Q". All is good for now... until I add somebody else to GAL.

Thanks.

Yes - this is not recommended. You won't get updated changes. What's wrong
with the lookup? That should work just fine when you're sending mail - and
you don't need to save the contact at all.

We have users that like to be able to call colleagues at work and can't
remember their extension so this way they can just type in their name and it
pops up.

That's nothing compared to what would happen if you tried to sync a
GAL with tens of thousands of individuals in it!

If they want to e-mail Jane Doe all they have to do is start typing and have
it do the lookup.

I can't see why the GAL lookup wouldn't do the job in this case. It is much
better than carrying all the company contacts in your private phonebook.
This looks like a terrible option to me.....
