Exchange 2003

I am troubleshooting a store not mounting after the san drives power was
cut.

I have a few of the stores up and working fine, the one that will not mount
is not an important store and is not backed up. I can retrive the data
elsewhere.

However, the transcaction logs for the nightly backups for the other stores
are not being purged due to this store being offline - I receive a 951 ESE
Backup event log advising one store is not mounted

Can I just delete the store and the logs will then contonue to flush
correctly ?

Have you tried to run ISInteg and ESEUtil on the store? It's entirely
possible the error is recoverable, and that you can then mount the store.

Otherwise, if you truly don't need anything in the store, you can copy its
database and logs somewhere else (just to be safe) and then delete the files
and re-mount the store. You'll get a dialog that tells you Exchange is
going to create a blank file, which is what you're going for here. If the
error with the backups is being caused by that DB and not something else,
that should clear the issue.

If all else fails, you can delete the store completely in Exchange System
Manager, but if the backup tool still barfs with a blank store (remount with
no files), then the problem may be deeper than just that store, and actually
be a bigger issue caused by the SAN problem.
