Hi,

In exchange 2003 our organization set up an external smtp relay in the SMTP
protocol of the server complete with ip and login.

In exchange 2007 the protocol access is removed. However there is a SMTP
connector section in hub transport. We configured the use of an external SMTP
connector in the hub transport, but sending mail still does not work.

any ideas?

Hi,

What happens when you try to send an email?

With external you mean send connector right?

How is this connector configured to deliver (using DNS or forward to
smart-host)?

Is name resolution working on this server?

The send connector is confured for the ISP smtp server and basic
authertication login info.
*** there is no edge subscition / server

in the smtp connector log, it shows the ehlo to the remote smtp server but
reports as authentication failed. the login i provider is correct -- i
checked 3 times.

after an email is sent;
- no notification

in the smtp send connecter we used a smart host DNS IP. and the name
resoltion seems to be working. the following is what the sendsmtp log reports:

Hi,

Do your ISP require authentication else remove this setting and use
anonymous.

I am having the same issue.

How can you remove the AUTH setting on Exchange 2007?

Or is there a better way?

Hi,

If you create an internet send connector there should be no authentication
configured.
