I have a client running SBS 2000. We recently added another domain to their
Exchange server (I'm not sure if this is relevant). A couple of days ago,
they started to recieve undeliverable messages when trying to send to
Comcast.net e-mail addresses. The error is:

There was an SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
Please contact your system administrator.

ldap:ou=rblmx,dc+comcast,dc=net>

I'm guessing that I may need to add reverse lookup records to the DNS
server, but I would appreciate some other feedback on this before I go and
try anything.

Thanks,

Rob

Hii,

I'm Lakshman i saw your post in the exchange transport discussion group. And
it seems to be you are unable to send an email from the newly installed
exchange server to the SBS Server. Before you follow your action plan you can
also look into the following settings of Default SMTP Virtual Server in the
newly installed exchange server. The default settings must be as below

1. Checked for the default SMTP virtual server properties everything is
perfect. Mainly in the advanced tab, the external DNS should not be
configured with the ISP IP. If found remove it.
2. Open ESM , point to Global settings and select Message Delivery right
click properties, point to Recipient filtering Checked for the Filter
recipients who are not in the active directory.
3. once the above setting is done, select Default SMTP Virtual Server
properties, right click properties, point to General then select Advanced
button, select the edit button and after that click Apply Recipient Filter
4. In Default SMTP Virtual Server properties , select Access then select
Authentication button, ensure that Anonymous access and Basic authentication
and Integrated Windows Authentication all the 3 are checked.
5. Select the third button connection and ensure that Select which computers
may access this virtual server contains the value All except the List below
6. Click Relay button and Checked for the value only the list below is
selected, and allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay,
regardless of the list above, is checked.
7. Select Delivery tab then click Advanced Tab, ensure that the given domain
is valid by clicking the CHECKED DNS.
8. Click Configure and make ensure that NO IP must be there in the External
DNS tab.

Try to send a test email using telnet session from the new exchange server
to the mailbox which is located on the SBS Server.
Hope this works for you... Smile

Happy solving
Lakshman
