My server was crashed. No tape backup but I have the whole content of
\exchsrvr. I re-build the Windows 2003 server SBS from scratch,and I'm using
the default settings which should be the same as the crashed server, same
computer name, same domain, etc. Then I copy the priv1.mdb, priv1.stm, to the
\mdbdata directory. The information store service starts up ok, but I can't
mount the database - "ID No: c1041724". Anyone can suggest a solution to
import back all the mail

Hi,

The information store is in a dirty shutdown state (because of the crash) so
you will need to repair the dabases: This should help (make a copy of the
files just in case:

1) Stop the Information store service
2) Move out to a safe location all transaction log files
3) Run eseutil /p on the priv1.edb
4) Run eseutil /d on the priv1.edb (this will require at least 16GB of free
space)
5) Start the IS service
6) Mount and then Dismount the Database
7) Run "ininteg -s -fix -test alltest" until you get 0 fixes
performed
Cool Mount the mailbox store
9.) same procedure on the public information store.

This process will do a hard repair on your databases and then clean up after
the fact. This process is only to be used in situations where there is no
other alternative.

Thanks for the information. It doesn't help. I can't mount the store. I can't
run the ininteg as well

I guess somthing related to security or the site name. "1088, 9518, 9519"
found in the event log, it says the database should be restored to a
different site or organization. Any other clue?

Hi,

Sounds as if your new server hasn't been installed with the same names as
the original server. I´s it possible for you to make absolutely sure that
the names are as they should be?

Thanks Leif.

I am very sure everything the same. It's a HP server with windwos 2003 SBS
pre-installed. Everything should be default. I use the same computer name,
same domain, same admin password, and Exchange using all default settings.
The only difference is I set up the W2k3 SBS on another computer (not the
original hardware) for email recovery purpose, will this cause the SID
different. Any other way I can read from the database file for the OU and
site name.

Get an eval copy of Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange.
http://wm.quest.com/products/recoverymanagerexchange/ and use it to try and
mount the store. No recovery environment required and if the store is not
consistent, the tool will make it consistent for you. If the database is
corrupt and requires a hard repair that's possible too.

Sorry, that isn't enough info for us to work with. Please repost with a lot
