i have a 2003 exchnage database with spaces in the file name. i can not run
a eseutil /d command across the DB unless i rename it be removing the spaces.
then running the defrag on my pc. can this DB just be renamed afterwards to
match the orignal name?

eseutil /d "C:\mdbdata\my edb file has spaces in it.edb"

Try using quotes

You can just rename the defragged DB back to the original name. The new DB
has a new signature so you hsould back it up ASAP
