Has anyone had any experience of renaming *just* the Netbios name of a 2003
AD Domain hosting Exchange Server 2007?

I've run the rendom tool against a test domain with a simple Exchange
configuration, just changing the Netbios name and keeping the FQDN and DNS
configuration the same, and all appears to be OK, but before I go ahead and
do this on my production environment I was wondering if anyone else has tried
this, or has any info on any gotchas that I might encounter?

The aim is to migrate all the user and computer objects from a child domain
in to the root (already hosting Exchange 2007), and to reuse the Netbios name
from the old child domain once its been decommissioned.

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

If you're renaming the domain for cosmetic purposes it may not be supported
by Microsoft if you need to contact them for support. If you havent already
watched this webcast, I would recommend it:
