I have Win 2003 server running exchange 2003 - it is the GC and has ports
443 and 25 open. All functions correctly on the LAN but when I try to
connect using RPC over HTTPS it disconnects after logging in - I am
successfully making 2 HTTPS connection that are called directory but I think
I need a mail connections as well.
Any ideas on why I can not make a complete connection using HTTPS?
TIA

This is your Scenario, did you follow all the steps specifically 1,2,3, and
4?

Yes sir, every step. Like I said I get the directory (2) to connect using
https just not the mail connection. I am prompted for a login that works
successfully for the mailbox - just can not get the mail connection

Thanks

Same...

It brings up the login for the mailbox and the connection status window -
window shows connecting until I enter the password - password is excepted
then Outlook tries to connect to referral, directory and mail. Referral is
dropped first the you see 2 successful connections for directory while still
attempting to connect to mail, finally mail is dropped leaving only the 2
directory connections established and Outlook shows disconnected.

Thanks

Have you verified your Outlook Exchange Proxy Settings both Connection and
Authentication? Check the log on the Exchange Server after you try a login?
Any events fired back?

HELP!!!!

Still can't get this - "outlook exchange proxy" not sure what that is...
I am able to pass the test RPC Proxy test logging into (or not)
host.domain.com/rpc and verified it is loading.

Also not mentioned I have been using my Mac on this exchange sever with no
issues for the last 8 months - entourage works perfectly, just no GAL
offline. Strange that Outlook for MAC takes a second to get working and
Outlook for Windows I have spent the last 2 months trying to get working.

James

In Outlook, go to Accounts click on your Exchange Account click edit, go to
Change then More Settings. Look under the Connection Tab and Exchange Proxy
Settings. What do you have set for Connection Settings and Proxy
Authentication?

Ok, lets do some troubleshooting. I am going to provide a link for RCP over
HTTPs troubleshooting which covers about everything. Let me know if
anything from the link resolves the issue, be sure to go through the second
part at the end of the article.

GOT IT!

Thanks all it is now working - after reviewing all the settings for the 10th
time I found that I was missing the settings for "RPC proxy server to use
specified poets for RPC over HTTP" in the registry - it was there at 1 point
and must have been removed somehow.

Thanks
