Question about running offline defrag

Hello

I have a client who's Exchange store has reached it's 16GB limit, I've done
the Reg hack to increase it's size to 17GB and got the users to clearout
their mailboxes. I'm would like to run an Offline Defrag but have one
stumbling block.They dont have enough space on their server to run the defrag.

I was going to put a temporary HDD in the server to run the defrag and set
copy to go to this drive( is this possible? ). If so I would then want to
return the store to it's original position after the defrag. Is it possible
to copy the store from the new drive to it's original position? and are there
any pitfalls that anyone could suggest to look out for.

Just map a network drive and tell eseutil to store temp data in the
network drive (should be /t switch IIRC).
Of course, performance will be affected but I did a defrag of an 10 GB
DB in 2 hours (not so bad indeed).
If you have a *good* network, probably this could be simpler than
attaching an external storage

Defrag the exchange database I need to run a defrag on our exchange database to reduce the size. I read about the eseutil tool but I also read somewhere about restoring from backup instead. Can somebody clarify this for me. Can you backup the exchange database and just restore it.
