My customer is hosting an email internet domain we can call domain1.com
They
are using SMTP with Outlook clients.
This company also has another internet domain we can call domain2, This
domain is hosted presently by an outside internet hosting vender. This
domain
is using POP3, users around the country use Outlook Express and Outlook
POP3
accounts.
My mission is to host this domain, continue to use the same domain name and
use POP3. This is necessary as we can't easily change the clients.
I have tried to do this, I have accounts setup in AD and email accounts
with
the correct domain names, I can receive mail via SMTP. The users try to
enter the password I assigned to the user and they are not authenticated.

Can I setup a second domain to be hosted by Exchange (this is enterprise
Exchange)? or, what is the
correct
method of hosting this domain2? and continue hosting domain1
Anyone have any thought?

Hi,

It is possible to host for both domains. This is done in the recipient
policy. Also you need to configure the pop3 virtual server in the Exchange
so that it will accept clients using this protocol. You need to have the
users in the AD as mailenabled users, and when all this is ready make sure
you have the right ports open and forwarded in the firewall as well.
It would be a good idea to use SSL to make the connections more secure, to
do this you need a SSL certificate from a provider of these, ie. Verisign or
commodo.
