Exchange 5.5 / OWA

After installing Norton Antivirus for Microsoft Exchange
v2.x, I cannot logon to OWA with the error:

OWA was unable to get to your inbox.
To try to logon again, click here.

Symantec have confirmed this as a problem but have not
solved it.
