Howdy All,
We've been experiencing a problem recently where within 24 hours of a system
reboot, the CPU on our OWA server reaches 100% cpu utilization. Eventually,
the web service will stop responding and
we have to reboot the server to get things going again.
When this happens, I bring up task manager on the server and I see that the
actual process hogging
the cpu is the dllhosts.exe process running under username IWAM_servername.
This is the account
used by OWA so that's why I believe OWA is the root cause.
I've seen some posts related to DLLHosts. pegging cpu due to Welchia/Blaster
infection, but have
ruled out an infection by those viruses. This server is up to date with the
security patches.
My environment is Win2K Server SP3
Exchange 5.5
This server had been running without this symptom for quite a long time.
Since we've only recently
(since blaster) been agressively patching this server with the latest
updates, I wonder if one of the recent security updates could have
introduced this problem.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Bob Howe
