Hi,

I'm having problems with Forms Based Authentication on my Exchange
2007 SP1, which runs on a Win2003 SP2 which is also domain controller.

We previously had working FBA authentication, but I disabled it to try
out some things with regular http access and now I can't get it to
work again. To clarify, OWA works when FBA is disabled, both with SSL
and without, but whenever I activate FBA OWA gives 440 error and it
gives it straight away, meaning it's not really a time out.

I think what messed things up was me messing with permission settings
for the OWA/Exchange virtual servers in IIS manager... I've since
reset those settings so that OWA/Exchange require SSL, OWA only
accepts basic auth, and Exchange accepts basic and integrated auth.
Also, Exchweb accepts anonymous access.

I've tried the solution at http://msmvps.com/blogs/cgross/archive/2004/08/08/11472.aspx
which completes without any problems but still I get the 440 error.

Since OWA is working without FBA (both within the domain and from
external clients) I haven't tried any of the more radical solutions
I've found online, because I don't want to mess things up completely.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
