On our OWA users cannot open attachement from a message.. they are
forced to save local first. Is this a setting in IE or the server? Also,
embedded graphics in emails do not sure. .just the red x box with the file
name show up? How was this restricted?

thanks

It wouldn't matter if it's the server or IE, because the setting is probably
controlled via a central computer that governs several nodes on the network.

My guess is it's a security issue, because the number one way to get viruses
is via email attachments.

Check Outlook.
tools, options, security, restricted zone.
Also there are a number of patches that force this level of security in I.E.
and Outlook. (Outlook and I.E. are married).
