Getting 0x80072f17 with my cer file

I just switched my old iPaq hw6515 to a Motorola Q 9h. I copied the
..cer file to the Q but I get 0x80072f17 when I try to sync. The
certificate does seem to install without error. I should point out
that the certificate is not a certificate bought from a CA. The cer
did work on my old iPaq.

How do I use ActiveSync to sync to my SSL required Exchange 2007
Server without having to buy and install a cert from a CA????

Private Certs will not work on Exchange 2007.

Ok...I created another problem.

I went cheap and purchased a certificate from GoDaddy. I got it to
work when connected to the local network. I have a problem when
connecting externally. I have only a single Exchange 2007 server but
I have a spam filter box (unix) in front of it. The spam filter is
behind my firewall and has the NAT for the public mail.domain.com. The
certificate I created was for mail.domain.com

What would I need to do to get owa and activesync to point to another
public address? Create another certificate? If yes, what would it be
if not "mail.domain.com"?

Autodisover.yourdomain.com seems to be the answer. Only issue is that
mobile users and OWA users must use autodiscover.yourdomain.com to access
their respective resources. Otherwise you are looking at a SAN Cert. The
link I provided earlier explains this,

changed dramatically with Autodiscover service but there are work arounds
without spending huge dollars on SAN Certs.

John,

I decided to go with "Alternative 2". I had already setup
everything with mail.gryphonobject.com, so I'm running into a couple
of things. First, I had a autodiscovery set to the "Default Web
Site". Should I remove the default web site before I do the
New-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory for the AutoDiscover website?

I am getting 404 error when I try https://autodiscover.domain.com/owa

No, do not remove just add a new Autodiscover site as explained in the link.
