Hi.

I have a new Dell notebook. I have tried to connect it to the new SBS
server with the connectcomputer wizard using IE, but it did not go well.
The temp SBS user did not reboot the Dell as it should and there were some
errors.

However, I was able to get the Dell connected to the domain and I was able
to login. I had to setup Outlook manually, specifying the server name and
user name in the properties of the exchange service. It resolved the name
and there was no problem.

However after opening Outlook 2003, the mail showed up in the inbox as
normal, but when you click on a mail item to open it, it takes several
minutes to respond. Then when you click on file or view or any of the menu
commands, it takes 3 to 5 minutes to respond.

I tried to disable Cached Mode and it did not help.

I tried to use another user name and it did not help.

Then I deleted the Exchange service and put a POP3 connection instead of
Exchange and it responded fine and acted normal, so I don't think it was a
problem with the software.

I uninstalled outlook and reinstalled it, and it didn't help.

So it seems like the only time I have the problem is when I connect to the
Exchange server.

Any ideas where to look to fix this?

Dale

I would join this to a workgroup again...
and then run connect computer again...
If you are having trouble with connect computer...OL isn't going to go well
either

you don't say but I assume this is XP pro...
Did you verify that the laptop is getting an IP address from the SBS server
when it boots up

Cris:

You were absolutely correct..

We worked on solving the first problem and we successfully connected the
computer to the Domain. After we fixed that problem, OL worked JUST FINE!

Good Call!
