Here's a brain twister..
Current scenerio:
Current domain in NT4 domain with 2000 member servers, using WINS, no DNS.
Exchange 5.5 installed on 2000 member server. Proxy server 2.0 installed
before mail server.
I need to create a seperate domain with AD, and Exchange 2003, as a new
installation, no migration of mailboxes. Create a two way trust, and just
change the proxy server to look at the new mail server. Users will copy all
email to personal folders and switch over after the installation.
But my question is, with no DNS on the NT4 domain, and the users residing on
the NT4 domain, how will the DNS needy Exchange 2003 box feel about using
those users as it's own? Can I literally make users in the AD domain just
like the NT4, or will the trust let me add mailboxes to the 2003 AD? My
thoughts were that AD liked to create the mailboxes when the user is created.
Anyone?
