I am trying to setup Exxchange 2003 Mobile access. We have front end and
back end topology.
I have enabled mobile access on the exchange back end server by going to
mobile services under global settings. I then go into properties and enable
OMA and enable unsupported devices.
My first question is do I have to enable this on the front end server, as I
want external users with mobiles to go through the front end server to
access their emails, just like you do with outlook web access. So what you
need to enable mobile access on the front end server.
I have done test on the mobile access internally by typing
http://backend
server/oma, and it seems to work fine.
External users would have to access the front end server by
http://frontendserver/oma. We have web access setup so i have configured
http and https rules for outlook web access.
My second question is how do mobile phone users then use their phones to get
emails. Do they have certain mobile applications on their phones, or do
thet browse on a IE version of their phone and browse to
http://frontendserver/oma, or is there a different way.
I need to get a clear understanding of this.
