I have a mailbox configured as my MTA Journal... at any given time this
mailbox has 150K + journaled messages in it. The issue is that the client
takes a very long time to open the mailbox.. I understand this is a lot of
messages but the load time seems to vary from day to day and the size is
almost constant... can anyone offer advice on why this may be.

Thank you

It probably has to do with the amount of work being done on the
server. The views might be getting updted and that requires a fair
amount of sorting.

Any way to view this information quickly?

Perhaps use MAPI?

Outlook already uses MAPI/RPC. What sort of client software are you
using now?

Using rules to put messages in different folders would speed the
opeing of the mailbox. Fewer mesages in a folder means faster
processing.

I am sorry... I said mapi and I meant to put IMAP...

Thanks for your help.. Is there an easy way to add rules to a mailbox short
of opening the mailbox using outlook?

Thanks again

Sure. IMAP will work, but it's going to download all the headers for
whatever folder(s) you're working on. Whether it'll be faser or not I
don't know.

Not that I know of. Check on www.slipstick.com -- maybe some's done it
already.
