|
|
We are experiencing combinations of client IM problems:
1.Our clients periodically experience logoff problem. Some clients are
continusously switching to "appear offline". The clients did not
manually switch their status, and were continously using their
computers.
2.Sometimes a client got logoff, and is unable to immediately re-login
3.Client status is not updated. For example, UserA's PC shows himself
"online". However, everyone sees his status as "offline".
I already applied Exchange 2000 SP3, but nothing helped. I've also
searched the web, but haven't found any fix. Does anyone have a
suggestion? Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Yvonne,
First, see if changing the IM Messaging Time-Out period, as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=297041 helps. Also, have a look at
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=318162 and see if it might apply to your
situation. See also,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q318158 for
additional information, as well.

Hi Scott,
Thank you for your information. I already applied SP3, and have
disabled then re-enable the client's IM feature.
I check out the 3 KB you provided, but found something really
interesting.
All 3 URLs suggest to double check the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Messenger\Profiles
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\InstantMessaging
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\InstantMessaging\MaxOutstandingInboundMsgs
The problem is, I don't have the above 3 keys. More specifically, I
don't even have keys for:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Messenger
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\InstantMessaging
If I don't have the above keys, how did I get the IM working???
