Hello there,

I am a bit "new" when it comes to managing Exchange 2000,
and I would like to know how can I log the IP addresses of
the "sender machine" (not the server IP mind you).

I checked my exchange log options and to be honest I think
I tried just about everything. Everyone tells me thats its
possible to log the IP addresses of the sender, but nobody
can explain to me how to do it.

If anyone out there knows how to do this, I would very
much apreciate it that you sent me an email with the
solution.

Dear Nuno,

I think it isn't possible to log IP addresses of "sender machine" using only
Exchange. The reason is very simple. Exchange SMTP doesn't receive messages
from "sender machine" directly. It operates with other SMTP servers only.

You can resolve your problem with developing of SMTP EventSync script. It
has to check all inbound messages, receives the IP address from header of
message and write it to log file.
Perhaps there is the similar scripts or tools on www.slipstick.com.
