Have anyone use DoubleTake on Exchange 2000? If so, how did you setup(build)
the failover exchange server. Is it the same steps as setting up a new
exchange server? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

My understanding from about a year ago is that they require
professional services to install their Exchange solution. I don't know
if they have changed since then. Why not ask them directly?

I can tell you that the LifeKeeper for Exchange solution requires that
you install Exchange on a secondary server exactly as you would if you
were setting up a second Exchange server. The LifeKeeper software is
then installed on both servers to control the replication, monitoring
and failover.

Thanks, from what I was told, DoubleTake is the same way as LifeKeeper. I
will get in touch with DoubleTake.

Thank again.

LifeKeeper and DoubleTake are similar, however, LifeKeeper is better
for a few reasons. Here are the two primary reasons...

1. LifeKeeper monitors not only the health of the server, but also the
health of the application and all of its dependencies such as IP,
Volume and Exchange services and any third party Exchange services.
DoubleTake only monitors the system level via pings from the secondary
server. It will not detect if the server is down.

2. LifeKeeper's data replication is much more efficient than
DoubleTake. This article explains that DoubleTake requires hardware
accelerators to efficiently use the WAN. LifeKeeper in contract, can
use all of the available bandwidth without hardware accelerators and
also can provide 4 to 1 compression or better on most Exchange traffic.

We do not require professional services to install our Exchange
solution. If you request a 30 day eval from our website, you will have
it up in running in an afternoon. This article in InfoWorld also
illustrates some of the benefits of
LifeKeeper...http://www.infoworld.com/archives/emailPrint.jsp?R=printThis&A=/article/06/10/02/40TCfailover_1.html
