Hi,

I’ve tried to install Exchange SP1 over Windows2008 RC1. The server is
running as DC and all necessary prerequisites stated by the Exchange setup
are met.

When I started the install it gets stuck at the Hub Transport Role
installation. One services is not starting, I thing the Exchange AD Topology
Discovery or something. In the Services Snap-in it’s in Starting state and
that takes forever. Also in Event Viewer are the following errors:

Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE.EXE (PID=3108). Topology discovery
failed, error 0x80040a02 (DSC_E_NO_SUITABLE_CDC). Look up the Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) error code specified in the event
description. To do this, use Microsoft Knowledge Base article 218185,

"Microsoft LDAP Error Codes." Use the information in that article to learn
more about the cause and resolution to this error. Use the Ping or PathPing
command-line tools to test network connectivity to local domain controllers.

Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE.EXE (PID=3108). Exchange Active
Directory Provider will use the Configuration Domain Controller
(xxxxxxx.local) specified in a call to SetConfigDCName.

Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE.EXE (PID=3108). The configuration domain
controller specified in a call to SetConfigDCName (xxxxxx.local) is
unreachable. Exchange Active Directory Provider will select the
configuration domain controller from the list of available domain
controllers.

Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGY (PID=3108). The site monitor API was unable to
verify the site name for this Exchange computer - Call=HrSearch Error
code=80040a01. Make sure that Exchange server is correctly registered on the
DNS server.

Any ideas? I’ve found the following KB article, but not sure if it is
relevant:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919089

Thanks Smile
