I just started a consulting project and the client is using a single
Exchange 2007 (NOT a domain controller) with Outlook 2007 clients in a
Win2003 domain.
After I log onto the domain and launch Outlook 2007, I'm prompted again for
my credentials. Regardless of whether I enter them or just cancel the box,
I can still send/receive mail. The auth box pops up again periodically
throughout the day and there is Exchange message in the System Tray. I
haven't tracked consistency of the pop-up yet. I'm not sharing calendars
with any other users.
There are some Outlook 2003 clients in the firm and they are NOT having this
problem.
At first, I thought it was related to this,
http://blogs.technet.com/janelewis/archive/2007/01/05/tips-for-speeding-up-outlook-2007.aspx,
so I unchecked that box. But that didn't solve the problem.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what is causing this? There is
nothing in the Exchange or Outlook logs.
Many thanks!

I had same issue. What you need to do is add the server(s) that you're
getting prompted to log into the trusted sites in IE. Strange but true.

Nope, didn't work. I entered the FQDN and the machine name of the server
into the Trusted Sites in IE and then rebooted my client. I still got the
logon prompt from Outlook 2007. At least I select the box for Outlook to
remember my pwd, so it doesn't come up again in my same session.
(Could it be certificate related? The Exchange Server machine name is
"XCHGSVR4.AD.domain.com" but the certificate within IIS for the Exchange
directory gives "mail.domain.com" as the name. Could that be related?)

Should the CAS name in the Exchange Power Shell be the machine name or the
internal FQDN?

Thanks for the suggestions. It ended up being the Unified Messaging Virtual
Directory which was causing the lookup problem (even though we're not using
UM).
We're all fixed now.

Actually, the problem reappeared. I've been on hold w/Raghu @ Microsoft
Support for about 2 hours now while he checks some things to try to help
me...
(What I thought worked before was setting the Unified Messaging Virtual
Directory in the Exchange Power Shell to the correct directory, even though
UM is turned off.)
