Hi all hope somebody has a answer for me. Is there any restrictions to a
exchange 2003 server name. or more specific any reason not to use a _. And
if so is it possible to change the server name. Exchange is loaded but is
not full implemented still in testing and only has a few test mail boxes on
it so far.

TIA

You cannot change the name of an already installed server and it
should not contain an underscore. It's a valid netbios character but
not a valid DNS character so although you can, you will have to
remember that the netbios and fqdn host names are different. You
really don't want to be bothered with remembering that.

You can, but if you were uninstalling Exchange I'd suggest you just
formatted the box and reloaded it. Whilst there wouldn't be any
problems with the rename you never know what other little nasties were
lurking. If someone's gone and put an underscore in the machine name
you don't know what other comedies they've done.

Exchange 2003 / Outlook 2003 performance Hello, we have SBS 2003 (not R2) and only 3 mailboxes. At the moment, one mailbox has about 7 GB and much mails with big attachments (we have to send and receive big attachments up to 10 MB). Opening emails in Outlook 2003 needs sometimes up to 2 or 3 min
