Wow I can't believe I have to ask this but what do I gain from setting up a CA server and KMS on my exchange 2000 system. I have read several articles regarding KMS and I know it encrypt's e-mail but I haven't found anything that states definitively that e-mail sent outside my AD/Exchange environment will be encrypted.

Tiffany -

I strongly suggest not to create a brand new KMS implementation at this
point, as KMS is a deprecated component and no longer exists in Exchange
2003. The replacement component is Windows 2003 Certificate Services, and
you will be much better served to base your new PKI environment on this
software...

If you issue certificates to your users, they will be able to send encrypted
mail to recipients (even those outside the organization) whose public key
information is known; it's really more a function of the sender knowing the
recipients information than the reverse.
