We are in process of evaluating PGP for encryption.

Since we already have Exchange 2000 in place I was wondering how could it be
configured so that we can enable encryption within organization and is it
possible to configure it so that we can enable encryption selectively with
our vendors outside (who are not in our exchange system)?

Is there any resources, whitepapers, technical articles that could help me
in this situation?

Hello Bhargav,

Why can't you use KMS instead of PGP ? You can send mails to other
organization using KMS. You will gain centralized administration of the
certificates, easy to recover etc..

Shiva

Shiva,

Thanks for reply.

That is the direction I want to go to. That's the task I have on my
shoulders. To find the product to use for encryption. Since I know KMS would
be a good choice, I want more from field experts.

My concern is how can I use encryption so that I can encrypt and send
messages to outside vendors? Does KMS work outside exchange boudaries? If
so, can you point me to any documentation/white papers that might help?

thanks,
Bhargav

Hi Bhargav,

I think this link will help you to configure KMS -
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Key_Management_Service_In_Exchange_2000_Server.html

If you want to send encrypted mail to external person, you should have his
public key. Just ask him to send mail including "Sign" and add that address
to your address book. You will be able to send encrypted mail to him.

Regards,
Shiva

And that means implementation of some sort on their side too. That will be
tough to explain to management since they mostly use PGP and we want to
differ.

Oh boy!

I am not sure about PGP, I think you can use that.
