Hi guys,

I have a strange problem here.. A user published some contacts to a share
contact folder in public folders which are set to 'read only' (don't know if
this makes any difference in this scenario). However.. This user has now
left and the user has been deleted from the AD. Everything has been fine for
a number of weeks - until someone has tried to modify those contacts that
this deleted user created.

to cut to the chase - you can't change/modify or delete the contact even if
you have owner permissions on the folder... You only get the option to save
a copy to 'your default contact folder'..

I have tried deleting the contact whilst logged into ESM with full domain
administrator permissions and it still gives the same error!!

Has anyone got any idea on how to resolve this? Even if it's a way to delete
the contacts -as they can always be recreated.

Many thanks,

Oliver

Sounds like you may have an item level permissions problem. I would suggest
that you check out
http://hellomate.typepad.com/exchange/2003/10/the_pfdavadmin_.html and use
the PFDavAdmin Tool to verify if item levl permissions exist and then remove
them from the troublesome contact.

Which exchange do you have? If it's 5.5. without sp's you
need to reboot the server to change permissions on public
folders, or else they won't take place, though it looks
like they have changed.

Ok, you try to view properties of the folder via EMS and
view Permissions????
As Admin you can change that permissions.
