When Excel files that are in an original message gets forwarded to our domain
they get corrupted. When you open them, they open in "Read-Only" mode and are
filled with trash characters. If the excel file is placed as an attachment
and sent it opens just fine. The embedded files sent to earthlink and
Comcast are sent with no problems. The initial message had several 3-4
forwarded messages cotained in it.
We have Exchange 2000 SP3 on Win 2k SP4. We run GFI mailEsentials for spam
and McAfee Groupshield as virus Scanner. I disabled the GFI and Mcaffe and
the files still come through as corrupt. I Believe it an Encoding problem,
but changed from UUcode to MIME with no affect. Searched Google and
Knowledge base with no results.
We are sending just the files know and they work, but would like to know the
cause of the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas?
