Hi, Everyone,

We are considering if it is good for us to upgrade to Exchange 2007 std from
Exchange 2003 std. We are totally satified with Exchange server 2003 std now.
I myself did some researh and did not find a very good reason that can
justify the high cost of upgrading to Exchange 2007. Basically I read the
articles at MS web site at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676323.aspx and at
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/evaluation/features/ex_compare.mspx . To be
honest, our company is a small company and don't want to implement those
unified messaging features which is a big selling point of Exchnage 2007.

So can anyone here who had some experiences with both Exchange 2003 and 2007
give me some good points/reasons? Thank you.

There are plenty of reasons - whether they fulifill any specific
requirements for your deployment is something only you can judge.

- High Availability: LCR, SCR (and CCR if you're using or plant to use
clustering) - by itself a reason to move to Exchange 2007, imo.
- Disaster Recovery features, particularly Database Portability
- Management: Exchange shell and the automation it provides
- Transport: AD-based routing
- Antispam features
- OWA 2007 rocks!
- Better Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) experience with WM 6

In addtion to what Bharat added, Microsoft is releasing new products this
year such as Windows Essential Business Server and Small Business Server
2008, both will include Exchange 2007. No upgrade pricing has been released
yet, but it may worth taking a look at Windows Essential Business Server
when its released to upgrade your network to Windows 2008 and Exchange 2007,
could be more cost effective.
