Advantages & Disadvantages on IMAP4

Because of some IPhone users (one of them is my boss), I may have to enable
IMAP4 on my exchange server, but I am not sure what disadvantages I may have
by enabling IMAP4.
If there are more security risks and also it slows down the server
significantly, I don’t want to enable it.

In addition, if anyone can provide me how to enable IMAP4 on an existing
Exchange server, it will be greatly appreciated.

Use SSL on IMAP and you should be fine. No SSL and username / password are
sent in clear text. Not good security.

Good point. Also be aware that the iPhone will not download calendar items
and deletions of E-mail are not processed in a timely manner.
