Is it worth it to have a copy of AD on the local Exchange server? The only
way I would know how to do this is to make Exchange a DC and a GC and editing
DNS so that it does not serve LDAP or logons to remote clients. But even
then Exchange would have to sync with the other DCs and wouldn't that affect
performance?

Is there another way where the Exchange server could have it's own copy of AD
to query instead of hitting the DCs to resolve emails, etc.?

Chris

it is better to separate the DC/GC and the exchange role than putting it on
one server
