Hi all, thanks for the info..
We have an Exchange 2k sp3, Win2k sp4, AD server. After installing SP4 on
it I had a lot of problems, 2000 pro clients couldn't log into the network,
NtFrs event log errors etc. After a pulling out hairs, I figured out that
it was because sp4 makes major changes to NtFrs, especially to the amount of
space the service uses on the system drive. This server was built 2 years
or so ago, when 2GB partitions for system drives were used. So the problem
was there wasn't enough space on the system drive for the Ntfrs Replication
service to work correctly, I had about 300MB, it needed 600MB+. I
compressed and deleted and moved and cleared as much space as I could, and
got about 640MB of free space. All problems were fixed, everything worked
fine. Now my question:
The system drive on this server is just that, a system drive. There is
nothing else on this drive, all applications are installed on the D: drive.
I have been watching the space on the C: drive and it changes. Right now
there are 540MB free space, about 100MB less than a week ago. I've searched
for .log files and .tmp files getting out of control, I don't see anything.
Can someone please tell me what could be filling up the system drive? This
is the Master server (PDC emulator), I suppose I could transfer roles if
that will help to another server. We also run Norton Antivirus for
Microsoft Exchange (NAVMSE), and are getting alot of email that is
quarantined at the gateway, I delete 100 or so attachments daily
(W32.Swen.A@mm). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry so long!
